Selon Deloitte's « Accelerating Smart Manufacturing » report, 62% of respondents are already moving forward with smart-manufacturing initiatives, though many note that full implementation can take up to a year.

Today's ecosystems focus on four key domains where shared resources, data, et expertise can unlock greater value :

• Manufacturing plant ecosystems — Coordinating internal operations, equipment, et workforce across a plant's boundaries.
• Supply-chain ecosystems — Integrating sourcing, transportation, et logistics to create a seamless flow of materials.
• Customer ecosystems — Engaging customers through channel partners, social media, et co-innovation initiatives.
• Talent ecosystems — Leveraging gig workers, internships, et alternative staffing models to build a flexible talent pool.
